Gutmann Signature Programs play an active role in helping residents feel connected to our community. Below are just a few of our programs that have become house traditions.
Fall Welcome Scavenger Hunt: Every fall after residents move in, residents particpate in a house wide scavenger hunt. Both challenging and fun, this is a great way to learn about the house and win amazing prizes!
Friday Night Writes: Join Friday Night Writes - a tutoring initiative to support K-12 writers in Philadelphia schools! Hosted on Friday afternoons from 4pm-6pm by Faculty Director Amy Stornaiuolo, students from neighboring schools (primarily middle and high school) drop in and bring what they are writing (college admissions essays, creative works, school assignments, scholarship materials) to get feedback. Gutmann residents are enouraged to join as a tutor or get help on their own writing.
Pancake Brunch: Once a month on Sunday mornings, Faculty Fellow Kellie Jurado hosts a pancake brunch. Residents are encouraged to bring their own plate!
Taste of West Africa: Faculty Fellow David Amponsah shares dishes he loves from West Africa.
Bingo Night: Come on down to the Multipurpose Room once a month to join our regular Bingo night. There is always a fun theme and exciting prizes. Students dress up and have a great time socializing and playing along!
Mid Week Mix & Mingle: Every Wendesday at 8pm the Gutmann residents gather for snacks and socialization. This is a great chance to take a break and meet new people!
Craft Series: House Director, Kathryn McDonald, hosts a month of craft nights each semester. Students love a chance to get creative and learn a new skill. Past crafts include clay, beading, crochet, resin, tie-dye, paper, and much more!
